Hydration is key for better training and performance for endurance athletes.  A recent article in Runner's World magazine highlights research that shows runners should drink 16 ounces of water or sports drink 1-2 hours before a run to enhance the body's performance.  Also, with the heat of the summer turning on, the colder the beverage the better both before and during a run.
